1. What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is defined as a naturally occurring state of selective mental focus. It allows you to tap into the power of your subconscious mind in order to make positive changes in your life. You naturally pass through a hypnosis-like state every morning when you wake up and each night when you go to sleep. You naturally go into a hypnosis-like state whenever your attention is totally absorbed by somethings such as a movie, TV show or daydream.

2. Will I be unconscious?
Hypnosis is not a form of sleep, contrary to what many people believe. You will be fully conscious and aware of what is being said to you. You will also be able to remember everything that happened. And because you are aware, you can accept or reject any suggestions given to you.

3. How can I tell if I'm hypnotised?
Hypnosis is a state of mind, so it doesn't relly feel different from your normal state. It is such a natural and comfortable state that most people do not even realize that they have been hypnotised!

4. Is hypnosis mind control? Will I give away all my secrets?
Hypnosis is not a form of mind control. You are fully conscious the whole time, which means you can accept or reject any suggestions that you are given. Hypnosis is a cooperative effort between the hypnotist and the client. Both have to work together to get results.

5. What about those stage hypnotists that make people act silly?
Hypnosis for entertainment is entirely different from clinical hypnosis. The training is different, the skills needed are different. The stage hypnotist is first and foremost an entertainer. And the people who go on stage are volunteers. They know what to expect and are willing (consciously or subconsciously) to play along. The stage hypnotist chooses people who want the attention; who want to be "the life of the party."

6. How much will I remember?
You will remember everything that is said and everything you experience.

7. What if I cannot be hypnotised?
Everyone is capable of being hypnotised. We naturally go into and out of hypnosis-like states every single day. That being said, not every hypnotist can hypnotise every person. Hypnosis is a cooperative effort between the hypnotist and the client. If this cooperation breaks down for any reason, hypnosis will not occur.

8. What if I can't wake up?
You are always fully conscious, so "waking up" is not a concern. Even in the deepest states of hypnosis you are fully capable of emerging if you want to.

9. Can hypnosis hurt me? Is it safe?
Hypnosis is totally safe. It is a normal and naturally occurring state of mind. Hypnosis has been approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) for pain relief and other uses.

10. Is hypnosis a form of the occult?
Hypnosis is not an occult practice and it is not magic. As stated before, it is a naturally occurring state of mind. There are some Christain groups that claim hypnosis is satanic. This is based on fear of the unknown and ignorance about what hypnosis really is.
